EER Symposium Marks the Journal’s First Anniversary

On the afternoon of November 14, 2024, the 1st Anniversary Symposium of Engineering Education Review (EER) was held at the Jiasuo Conference Room, Tsinghua University.

Distinguished attendees included Professor Wang Sunyu, Editor-in-Chief of EER and Executive Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the International Centre for Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICEE); Professor Gong Ke, Founding Editorial Board Member of EER, Former President of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), and Former President of Nankai University; Qu Zhenyuan, Founding Editorial Board Member of EER and Former President of the China Association of Higher Education (CAHE); and Professor Wang Dazhou, Founding Editorial Board Member of EER and Deputy Director of the Center for Engineering Research at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). Professor Lei Qing, Founding Editorial Board Member and Vice Dean of the Institute of Higher Education at Beihang University, participated via video link. The symposium was moderated by Dr. Shen Ye, Director of the EER Editorial Office and Assistant to the Secretary-General of UNESCO-ICEE.

Professor Wang Sunyu delivered the opening remarks as Editor-in-Chief, followed by Dr. Shen Ye, who presented a report on EER’s achievements over the past year and its strategic roadmap for the future. The board members commended the journal’s significant progress and provided expert guidance on future development and priority topics for 2025.

Professor Rui Zhenhua, UNESCO Chair on "Carbon Neutrality, Green Transformation and Climate Change" at the China University of Petroleum (Beijing) and Executive Managing Editor of Engineering (CAE journal);

Li Yue, Former Vice Dean of the School of Continuing Education at Tsinghua University and Director of the Institute of Innovation and Development at the Zhejiang Tsinghua Yangtze River Delta Research Institute;

Li Ying (online), Party Secretary of the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science at Tsinghua University;

Dr. Ren Yangang (online), Director of the International Journal Editorial Office at Peking University Health Science Center;

Qiao Weifeng, Deputy Party Secretary of the Institute of Education at Tsinghua University and Assistant to the Secretary-General of UNESCO-ICEE.

Representatives from the EER Industry Committee and publishing partners, including Liu Binli (President of Beijing Yu-ke Future Intelligent Technology), Wang Cheng (President of Hefei Majority Information Technology), He Ying (President of Beijing Ivory Tower Grid Security), Zheng Rui, Li Yingjie, and Zhang Jianjun (Head of Publishing at Hong Kong Scholars International Publishing & Media Co.), engaged in in-depth discussions on industry-academia integration.

The symposium concluded with Professor Wang Sunyu presenting official appointment letters to members of the Editorial Board, Youth Editorial Board, Industry Committee, and expert advisors.
