EER Participates in the "Cultivating Excellence Engineers from a Global Perspective" Event Series
On July 6, 2024, Professor Wang Sunyu, Editor-in-Chief of Engineering Education Review (EER) and Executive Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the International Centre for Engineering Education under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICEE), chaired the "Cultivating Excellence Engineers from a Global Perspective" series of activities.
During the event, Professor Wang Sunyu and Dr. Shen Ye, Director of the EER Editorial Office, engaged in in-depth discussions on engineering education trends and talent cultivation with several distinguished experts, including:
Professor Ling Wen, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and President of the Shandong Association for Science and Technology;
Professor Cai Wei of Harbin University of Science and Technology, a "National Excellence Engineer" awardee;
Professor Ye Haowen, Chief Expert of China Construction Science & Technology Group;
Professor Wu Xiaolin, Former President of China University of Petroleum (Beijing);
Professor Jürgen Kretschmann, President of Hainan Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences;
Professor Liu Chongru, Director of the Academic Affairs Office at North China Electric Power University;
Professor Liang Qionglin, Deputy Vice Provost of Tsinghua University and Executive Dean of the National Graduate School of Excellence Engineers.
The parties reached several preliminary cooperation intentions during these exchanges. The event was co-hosted by ICEE (an EER supporting organization) and the National Graduate School of Excellence Engineers at Tsinghua University, with strong support from the China Society of Engineers (CSE).
More than 100 Engineering Doctoral students from major national engineering projects at the National Graduate School of Excellence Engineers learned about the development of EER through the event. While maintaining close interaction with scholars and experts, EER also explored potential collaborations with China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) regarding international engineering talent cultivation. Moving forward, the journal will continue to foster dialogues with more enterprises to better serve society and industry through its research findings.
