Engineering Education Review (EER) Showcases Global Strategic Vision at ASEE 2024 Annual Conference
From June 23 to 26, 2024, the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) held its Annual Conference in Portland, Oregon. During this premier event, Engineering Education Review (EER)—a journal supported by the Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC) and the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES)—successfully highlighted its strategic development and commitment to global academic excellence through a series of key presentations and board-level strategy sessions.
- Taking the Global Stage: A Call to Collaboration
During a special session co-hosted by the GEDC and IFEES, Dr. Shen Ye, Director of the EER Editorial Office, delivered a compelling presentation on the journal’s strategic trajectory. She introduced EER’s vision to function as a premier, review-focused platform that synthesizes the most critical advancements in engineering pedagogy.
Dr. Shen invited engineering deans from around the world to support the journal by contributing high-impact scholarly work and collaborating to build a robust intellectual hub for the field. Mr. Hans J. Hoyer, Co-Editor-in-Chief of EER and Secretary General of both GEDC and IFEES, introduced the journal to the audience and encouraged the global community to engage with and support its ongoing growth. The session was met with overwhelming enthusiasm from international deans, early-career scholars, and student representatives.
- Building the Future: International Editorial Board Convenes
In conjunction with the conference, Mr. Hans J. Hoyer hosted a strategic meeting with five international EER editorial board members to discuss the journal’s global roadmap. Attendees included:
- Hans J. Hoyer (USA/Global, Secretary General of GEDC & IFEES)
- Zoran Cekic (Serbia)
- Jamie Gurganus (USA, expert in engineering education research)
- Marcello Nitz (Brazil, Mauá Institute of Technology)
- P. Mohsen (USA, Past President of ASEE)
Dr. Shen Ye facilitated in-depth discussions with the board members regarding the journal's expansion and impact. The members offered valuable, context-specific insights and pledged to host promotional events for EER within their respective countries and regions, aiming to bolster the journal's visibility among engineering scholars worldwide.
