China’s academic publishing industry has been flourishing and developing. Academic journals and journal editors are supposed to be the main channels for reporting on national development, scientific and technological progress, and to bring together domestic innovative talents, bearing the important responsibility of disseminating scientific knowledge and participating in global exchange. In today’s world of changing landscapes, coupled with the continuous innovation of publishing concepts and the rapid development of technology, there is now more fertile soil and more updating challenges in editing and publishing practice. In addition, there is now an urgent need for a world-class English-language editorial journal that can lead the world frontier, fully display and guide the academic publishing practices and comprehensively disseminate the latest research progress in this field. Based on this, the Editing Practice was born.

The Editing Practice is an English academic journal based in China and facing the world in the field of academic editing and publishing. It aims to promote global academic publishing communication and lead the academic publishing editing practice. The journal will publish the latest theoretical explorations and disciplinary progress of academic publishing, lead the direction for academic publishing practices, and develop academic communication. It will also build an academic communication platform that will support in the innovation of editorial communication and cooperation methods. In addition, it will shape a new academic ecology in the editing, publishing, management, and operation fields, as well as open up the industry chain with regards to the editorial business practice — promoting the research and practical development of related disciplines. The focus will be directed toward academic communication and the latest developments in editing and publishing ethics, publishing platforms, and technologies, which will improve the practical editorial ability of relevant editorial talents, academic professionals, library and information personnel, academic information management personnel, and teachers in this field, so as to promote the prosperity of academic communication and editorial publishing.

The Editing Practice is based on strict peer reviews, continuous publishing, and open access, and sets up key columns such as academic frontiers, technological progress, platform cooperation, interdisciplinary subjects, classic cases, and editorial figures. It will join hands with global academic publishing practitioners to construct a high-end academic platform in the field of global academic journal publishing, editing, and research, and lead academic communication as well as promote the development of global science and the use of technology.
