Dear colleagues,
The major burden of reproduction, birth, education, and family planning overall is, in most parts of the world, being taken care of by the female part of our population. Without delving into gender or emancipatory discussions, it is clear that female health care is of utmost importance for the procreation of mankind and socioeconomic welfare.
Far too many female deaths are, even today, due to obstetrical or carcinogenic complications or diseases. Many of these could be avoided through prophylactic medicine or tailored and individualized therapies.
Although the recent decades have shown to be effective and productive in cancer treatment, much still remains to be done. Especially reaching the major part of the world population in distant regions or in low development areas are main challenges. Further basic and clinical research, using subtyping of malignancies, will also definitely improve recurrence free time, disease free survival and overall outcome.
The inauguration of this new journal “Cancer in Females” can be seen a contribution towards amelioration of female health care in malignant diseases. All oncological experts in their specialties are requested to join forces in a never lasting effort to reach further improvement in this demanding scientific field.
I thank you from my heart, in the name of the Editorial Board and Office.
